Metric licensing with Sentinel HASP HL:
CAUTION: Failure to follow the instructions below may result in your computer requiring a completely new installation!
The Metric software (version 9.03, as of December 2022) can be licensed via hardware locks ("dongels") from Thalesgroup (formerly Gemalto, before that Aladdin). For this purpose, a dongel (identifier KCMAZ for local or RBXED for network) is addressed from Metric either locally or via a network. The Metric software uses the library haspvb32.dll for this purpose. If the correct licensing is found in the hardware key and in case of network keys the necessary number of licenses, which can be active at the same time, the Metric program starts.
As of December 2022, the latest driver version is 8.53. This driver is NOT suitable for the Metric. The latest driver for support is 7.92. This version has been tested by us. The Thalesgroup technical documentation explicitly states that there was a massive change with the 8 version, so certain licensing types are no longer supported.
Once the 8.53 driver is installed, the 7.92 cannot be installed again without a lot of effort. One cannot simply uninstall the 8.53, but must manually remove the files and clean up the Windows registry. This poses a significant risk to the functionality of the entire system.
In the subdirectory HASP is the file HASPUserSetup.exe with date 04/30/2019 in version 7.92.28470.60000. This file must be started with admin rights and installs the drivers. Afterwards, the Metric software is ready for use.
To check the installation, the address localhost:1947 can be called in any browser. The program Diagnose.exe in the Metric program path can provide additional information.
