The LS 487 length measuring system with a measuring length of 70 mm, also known as LS 487C ML 70, is an incremental, encapsulated length measuring device from HEIDENHAIN with a low-profile scale housing. It has an accuracy class of ± 5.0 µm and a pitch of 20,000 µm. It is mounted using end pieces and a mounting rail. The output signal consists of sinusoidal voltage signals (1 Vss), and the voltage supply is 5 V. The measuring length is 70 mm, and the total length is ML + 138 mm (where ML is the measuring length). It uses distance-coded reference marks with a basic distance of 1000 x.

The delivery includes adapter cable ID No. 228975-35 and adapter plug ID No. 364914-02 to connect the new system with 1 Vss to existing old display systems with 11 µm.
