The 2016 measuring magnifier is a wide-angle magnifier with 15x magnification in combination with a glass scale graduation of 0.1 mm. To enable sharp observation of the entire field of 20 mm diameter at 15x magnification of the object, the magnifier has been newly developed. The field curvature as well as the lateral chromatic aberration have been perfectly corrected by a combination of four lenses. Two of the lenses are made with a new type of optical glass. In addition, all six air-glass interfaces are multi-coated to prevent internal reflections (anti-reflective coating). For this measuring magnifier, there is a choice of two additional scales in black and two scales in white (see overview). Once again, perfect optics are used to achieve a very large viewing and measuring range in relation to the magnification.
Measuring length: 14 mm
Field of view: 20 mm
Size: 35 x 33 millimetres
Net weight: 40 grams
When using this instrument, adjust the distance between the glass scale and the magnifying glass by turning the fluted ring of the magnifying glass until you have the magnified image of the scale in focus. After that, no readjustment is necessary until the user changes. By turning the ring to the left as far as it will go and turning it a little more vigorously, the magnifier can be removed from the transparent tube with the scale and used as a stand-alone magnifier.
The shown standard scale is included with the loupe. In addition, scales in black (for light backgrounds) and in white (for dark backgrounds) can be purchased with this loupe.
In optics, an achromat is a system of two lenses consisting of glasses with different Abbe numbers (different degrees of dispersion). The system contains a converging lens (usually made of crown glass) and a diverging lens with a smaller Abbe number and thus stronger dispersion than the converging lens (usually made of flint glass). This allows the longitudinal colour error that every simple lens has to be corrected for two wavelengths, i.e. the system has the same cut-off for these two colours.
